Our Primary Purpose

The primary purpose of District 4 is to carry our message of recovery to the still suffering alcoholic. Our guiding principles are taken from preamble of Alcoholics Anonymous, the Twelve Steps and the Twelve Traditions, and other A.A. General Service Conference approved literature. District 4 of Area 25 (Kansas) covers the following counties: Ellis, Ellsworth, Lincoln, and Russell.

The District's Role in A.A.

Alcoholics Anonymous is not organized in the formal or political sense. Groups are autonomous except in matters affecting other groups or A.A. as a whole. There are no governing officers, no rules or regulations, no fees or dues.

The aim of Alcoholics Anonymous is to bring sobriety within reach of all who want it. It is this spirit of service, rather than the spirit of vested authority, that underpins the structure of A.A.

District 4 serves as a link between groups in Ellis, Ellsworth, Lincoln, and Russell counties and the whole of A.A. Elected trusted servants from these groups, known as General Service Representatives (GSRs), convene at the district level and elect district officers. The district is represented at Area 25 (Kansas), which, in turn, provides representation at the General Service Office for the U.S. and Canada. More information is available via the links below.
